The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
