Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
